Bumps weekly antenatal class is suitable for mums of all birth plans and previous birth experiences who are interested in acquiring tools and techniques for a positive birthing experience.

This weekly class incorporates elements from traditional antenatal education, hypnobirthing, active birth, and pregnancy yoga movement and stretch to provide a comprehensive prenatal class that includes education, relaxation, support, and a sense of community in Hamilton and Airdrie.

During the 6 week term we will cover:

  • Choices for birth

  • Unbiased antenatal education

  • How your body works

  • Natural pain relief (including breathing & self hypnosis)

  • Birth hormones

  • Active birth education

  • Planning for birth

  • Physiological birth and assisted birth

  • Breathing techniques for pregnancy and birth

  • Induction

  • Weekly relaxation

Bumps Antenatal education stands as a cornerstone in preparing expectant mothers and families for childbirth and early parenthood.

By participating in these classes, mums-to-be gain invaluable knowledge and skills that significantly enhance their birthing experience and the health outcomes for both mum and baby.

Our antenatal education provides unbiased antenatal education, breathing techniques, birth options, and pain management techniques, empowering women to make informed decisions about their care. It’s your birth and your choice!

Furthermore, it nurtures a sense of community, reducing feelings of isolation by connecting expectant parents with others undergoing similar experiences.

This education also significantly lowers the incidence of prenatal and postnatal depression by equipping parents with coping strategies for stress and anxiety.

Antenatal education is more than just preparation; it's an essential investment in the wellbeing of families, paving the way for a positive pregnancy, child-birth, and early parenting journey.

This class offers a secure and inclusive environment for women to freely ask any questions, regardless of how trivial they may seem, and to connect with other women who are at various stages of pregnancy.

Additionally, each class has its own WhatsApp group and participants have the option to join the private Facebook group.

This class is a weekly class for mums-to-be only. If you are looking for a class which will include your birth partner please find out Bumps Antenatal Couples workshop which runs every 6 weeks in Airdrie.

  • Please ensure you have comfortable clothing on, cushion to sit on and for relaxation and something warm, either a blanket or cardi, for relaxation. A bottle of water or something for hydration as well. If you have your own yoga mat then please bring it along but we will have mats laid out to which you can place your mat on top of.

  • Classes are booked in blocks of 6 weeks at a time

  • . Each class is 1-hour 30 mins long.

  • 6 week block from £72

  • Q. Does my partner come to this class

No, this weekly class is for mums only but there is a perfect class if you would prefer to attend with your birth partner. Click HERE to find out more

    Q. Can I do both the weekly Bumps class and the couples class?

    A. Yes, A lot of mums enjoy their weekly time to themselves but like to bring their birth partners along to the couples workshop to help them work together as a team when labour starts and it helps them to understand how they can best help and support you and each other during that time.

    Q. When is the best time to start Bumps Antenatal classes?

    A. It depends on how you are feeling but I always recommend after 20 weeks and before 37 weeks. If you are anxious about birth, get booked in during your second trimester can help to ease those fears and help you to relax. You can attend classes all the way up to being in labour, but babies' arrivals can take us by surprise, so we recommend that you complete a term by the time you reach 37 weeks (just in case)! My first baby arrived at 34 weeks with no prior warning so you never know!

    Q. What do I wear to classes?

    A. No Matter which class you are coming to they are all mat based so we sit on mats on the floor. The only exception is the couples workshop which is chairs. So, it is advised to wear comfy clothes, most mums wear leggings or something stretchy.

    Q. What do I need to bring to Bumps class?

    A. Yourself, a bottle of water, a cushion and blanket for relaxation. If you have your own yoga mat please bring along but mats are provided for everyone.

    Q. What if I miss class will it get rolled into the following week?

    A. The terms are set blocks and no classes can be carried over as per our terms and conditions. I will do my best to fit you into another class in the same week where possible or catch you up on what you may have missed when you return.

  • "straight talking and honest support"

Julie’s antenatal class was fab! This is for you if you want straight talking and honest support during your pregnancy. A bit of a natter, some yoga and breathing and some education each week which left me feeling like I might start to have a clue what to do when baby arrives. Julie is so kind and giving of her time, she remembers your situation week to week so you do feel very much looked after.

  • "I couldn't recommend them enough"

I attended both the weekly antenatal bumps and the couples course with Julie, and I couldn't recommend them enough. I felt quite unprepared and overwhelmed by too much information on the internet, so it was nice to have a weekly check-in to learn, ask questions and share experiences with other soon-to-be-mums. Julie is really welcoming, and instantly puts you at ease. I really looked forward to the class each week, and to be around others in the same boat. The mums are now looking to carry on our community after the classes, which I think will be a great support in our journey through motherhood.

  • "Honest insight"

Julie has the unique ability to make you feel empowered about your upcoming birth, equipping you with honest insight to help understand your next steps and make informed decisions on what is right for you and your family. This granted my birthing partner and I the opportunity to complete our detailed birthing plan.

  • "Enjoyed my Bump class"

I really enjoyed my Bump class and Julie is a fantastic teacher. I feel more prepared with Julie providing lots of important information and techniques to help with the birth and beyond. No question is too silly to ask and spending time with other ladies and listening to their experiences has helped me understand I am not alone with many of my thoughts and feelings and this has really helped me on my journey. Thanks again Julie!!

  • "highlight of our week"

Julie's classes were the highlight of our week bonding with my baby, but even more so getting to know the other Mums and finding out everything I was going through or questioning, they were too. Most Mums stayed in the cafe for a cuppa / cake / lunch afterwards and we found our tribe. I've made life long friends through all of this, and become a much more confident Mum.

  • The class was really informative!

I attended Julie’s antenatal class and at first really didn’t know what to expect. The class was really informative, Julie is so knowledgable! It was great to meet other expecting mums and chat about our experiences. I would highly recommend Julie’s class!
